office42 is currently Stephanie and ben Ragle and operates out of downtown Los Angeles.  Our office was founded in late 2006 and currently subsists on real residential projects, teaching, and speculative housing and other theoretical projects and competitions.  Both attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for undergraduate studies and have since attained master’s degrees in architecture from UCLA (ben) and SCI-ARC (Stephanie).

 

Between studies they have lived and worked in India, New York, and Denmark and have experience in architectural design (commercial interiors, private residences, broadcast studios), graphic design (business cards, publication design, portfolio design), and education (both teaching and coordinating programs involving high school and college students.

 

After graduating with undergraduate degrees, both moved to India to work and travel for the year.  Having already lived in Europe for a year, there was a strong desire to experience an entirely different culture.  Their travels throughout the country influenced and strengthened their ecological approach to design thinking as well as their continuing focus on the proverbial “other half”.
